Hominids Compared to Planet of the Apes + Wordly

Primate of a family, that includes humans and their fossil ancestors that is the definition of hominids after this definition you realize that hominids and the classic sci-fi movie and book planet of the apes are very similar. Because they both have a species that is prior to humans in hominids it is the neanderthals and in the planet of the apes it is the apes themselves. Secondly in both novels the humans discover the Neanderthals and the Apes and the neanderthals or apes don't find the humans. Finally in both of the novels the humans do testing on the apes and the neanderthals to find out about them. That is how to classic sci-fi movie and novel planet of the apes and hominids are similar.

Human: a person, especially as distinguished from other animals or as representing the human species. Humans is important to the text because humans have a key role in the book because the discover a neanderthal and do a lot of testing on them to find out were they came from and what they are.

Evolution:a product of such development; something evolved. Evolution is important in the book hominids because it is about a species called neanderthal that teleports to a base in Sudbury and they find out that the neanderthal will evolve into humans in future years.

Difference:the state or relation of being different; dissimilarity. Difference has a important role in the novel hominids because it is about the difference between humans and neanderthals.

Hominids: primate of a family, that includes humans and their fossil ancestors. Hominids is important because it is the tittle of the book but also because when you find out the definition it gives a very large hint about what the book is about.

Neanderthal:of or pertaining to Neanderthal man, this is a important part in the book because when you read this definition you realize that Ponter a neanderthal was a primate to the rest of the characters in the book.

Career 5 (resumes & interviews)

Amy Beamer came to our class on Wednesday from the Waterloo Public Library (http://www.wpl.ca/) to talk about advise for resumes and interviews.

Some of her advise included don't fidget or sway in your chair and try to answer all questions in a positively towards you and don't give any information to the interviewer that may think about not hiring you. Some of her advise on a resume was to keep it neat bold your name at the top and don't draw or put pictures on it and try to keep it one or two pages long. This is some of the very useful information that Amy gave to use about resumes and interviews.

Career 4

Justin Kominar's career as a web designer sounds like a very interesting career that people that like computers, software designing and other things in that field would love this. This is a career that I would love to be in because I love using computers and making software.

Ideology about are people naturally and mainly good or evil?

I believe that people are essentially good. That is why people have a conscience. If people were evil then their conscience would not bother them so much when they act in any way that may hurt others. Most people are greedy and selfish and it is the level of greed or selfishness that determines the level of evil that a person is willing to go to so as to achieve what the person desires. From early childhood, children are instructed to be good. From this basis, the conscience forms and becomes a guide in later life. People who have not developed a strong conscience also benefit from offers of reward and punishment from peers, employers police or religious leaders. People with selfish tendencies can choose to be bad ignoring their consciences and even the consequences that they know could await them.

Historical Short story (How the first tank was designed)

On July 28 1914 Walter Gordon Wilson joined the British navy in the royal naval armored car division and William Tritton joined the British army and was asked to design and build tractors that could pull the very heavy howitzers around battle fields. Later in the war Walter and William meet up to create a armored tractor because all the rivers in them were being shoot out of them and they need more protection so they designed a armored tractor that later became the first tank in World War 1. In 1919 they were credited by the Royal Commission of Awards to Inventors as the inventors on the tank. William Tritton was knighted. They were then best friends for twenty-seven years when Sir William Tritton dies in Lincoln eleven years after Sir William Trittons death Walter Gordon Wilson dies.

Career Speaker 3

Melissa Durell's job as a journalist sounded great for a person that likes a fast passed job and like to be under pressure to do everything good and quickly at the same time, those are things that I do not want because I am not very good when I am pressured. Here job as a politician sounds more like something I would like in a job because you get a opinion about everything.

Final Reflection Assignment

1.  Some of the common themes I have noticed well working on this assignment in class are that computers don’t always tell the truth when you do online quiz’s.
2. From what I have learned about myself the last couple of days I would like to be a office worker, nurse, kindergarten teacher that’s what the computer program said. I actually want to be a contractor, photographer, or a mechanic I want to be anyone of these because I like hands on work more than sitting at a desk all day tipping on a computer and I also love building decks and fences and also I love cars.

Tedxyouth Waterloo

Tedxyouth Waterloo was amazing there was some very good speakers like Caustan De Riggs and Richard Mclean. Caustan De Riggs is a comedian and business man and also use to rap a little and was very good at speaking in front of hundreds of people. Richard Mclean had a amazing life story about him  going from foster home to foster home and then ended up on the streets homeless and know work for the mental health field and with people that are homeless. There was a lack of things to do that were interactive with the crowd.

Career Post 1

Allison Fleming has a interesting career if you like to be on social media sites and like using the internet and advertising for company's. That's something I don't like doing that's why this career in social media would not be a career for me.

Late Marks

I believe the way the school board has it at the moment is a good way that you get 5% taken of but after a week its a zero. That is a good way in my mind because if you don't take any marks off after its late everyone will just hand it in late. But if after a day late is kind of strict but if you go out into the world you can't hand stuff in late because it could be really important so maybe it should be 10% a day and after three days you get a zero, that would make most kids hand there stuff in on time because if you don't you would be very close to failing. That is why I believe it should be 10% a day and then after tree days a zero.

Atticus "To Kill a Mockingbird"

Atticus is Scout (Jean) and Jems (Jeremy) father and is one of the most prominent citizens in Maycomb during the great depression  Atticus is relatively well off in a time of widespread poverty. Because of his penetrating intelligence, calm wisdom, and exemplary behavior, Atticus is respected by everyone, including the very poor. A person whom everyone in Maycomb turns to in a time of doubt and trouble.

First of all Atticus is looked up to by everyone in Maycomb especially in times if need and trouble when they come to him to help them solve there problems because he is very intelligent because he went to school to become a lawyer. Atticus is also strongly against racism. He is also the only person that will stand up for Tom Robinson a black man charged for raping a white women, witch gets every white person angry at them because he is standing up and helping a black man. "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." This is a quote that Atticus said to Scout in chapter three when he said this I believe he was meaning that you can't tell how someone feels until you get to know them and see things the way they see things.

Apple or Android?

There is a question that lots of people ask; Apple or Android? There is no correct answer to this question it just depends on what you are getting it for, if you only have a smaller budget or you what something that does everything or just specialized for a few things, and the operating system.
Firstly Android is a lot cheaper than Apple if you only have a small budget to get a good quality device. Secondly Android can do anything like you can use it for gaming, editing videos/pictures, or just surfing the web were Apple is built for editing videos/pictures and surfing the web so if that's what you are getting it for go Apple if its for gaming get a Android. Thirdly Androids operating software (jelly bean) is good and is much more flexible were Apples operating system ( IOS 6) is more limited and cant do as much as Android. Finally Android devices are allot tougher than Apple devices, most Android devices can be dropped and it really does'int do anything but if you drop a Apple device from the same height the glass back plat will normally crack if you don't buy a good case. In conclusion it really just depends on what your buying the device for I would personally get a Apple product because that's what I prefer.

Logan LaPlante's TEDxTalk

I think that the Future Forum Project is similar to what this 13 year old kid is talking about. What I have learned from this course so far is like what he was talking about in this video, happiness and healthy. The way things are done in this course are very flexible and give students a choice of how they want to do things. Unlike normal programs at schools that he is criticized, the Future Forum Project is more open to students and what they want to write about. But as I say that the way Logan talks about schooling would be good I think that the way school boards are teaching at the moment is a good way to especially the Future Forum Project. The other bonuses of the way schooling is now is that everyone can do it if we did schooling the way that Logan talks about some people wouldn't be able to do it because of financial problems and wouldn't be as accessible for everyone. That is why I believe the way we are being taught is the correct way.

Should the Driving age be Increased to 19?

First, the question that needs to be asked is, are we, the youth of this country, responsible drivers? Lots of people have no idea how to drive a car properly, but they think they do, they get others and themselves injured or killed in car accidents. Whose fault is that? We could increase the age for driving, and we wouldn't have as many accidents caused by young drivers because they would get more experience behind the wheel before they can drive by themselves.

Most teens below the age of 20 are more likely to speed and very few wear seat belts  Teens below the age of 20 are more likely to speed and be distracted and show off to friend and are there for more likely to get into car crashes that can injure themselves and other people or even kill themselves or other drivers.  For every mile driven, 16-19 year old drivers are four times more likely to get into a car crash then older, more experienced drivers. Young drivers are four times more likely to get into a car crash for every mile driven because they are inexperienced, immature and try to impress friends which cause them to do stupid things. Teen drivers put other drivers on the road at danger. Out of the fatal crashes caused by teen drivers 36% are the teen drivers and the other 64% are other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians that die each year.

Teen drivers cause more fatal accidents each year than there are fully licensed. Teenager drivers caused 14% of fatal crashes in 2010 but they only make up 6% of the total population who have car licenses. That is bad because it is more than double the total licensed teen drivers. There are more drunk drivers, and then there are teenagers because they don’t think about what would happen if they drive when there drunk. There are more drunk teen driver causing accidents, than any other age group because they don’t think about the consequences of what can happen if they do get in a crash and someone is fatally injured or killed.  In addition, if the driving age is increased to 19, there will be fewer cars on the road which will speed up traffic and have less congestion of vehicles.

If the driving age is increased to 19, it will force people to walk when they are young, which will help with obesity problems. Driving encourages the population to become lazy and obese. if people can’t drive, they will be forced to walk, use public transportation, and bikes. This will help make a healthier population. In addition some people mature quicker than other people and can be responsible on the road well others are not.

Having said that, I believe it should be made flexible and the driver's test should include an aptitude test as well, to see how the candidate responds to certain hazardous situations, and see if those reactions are rooted in responsibility, not to mention a concern for the people on the road who may be involved. Driver's tests need to be more situation oriented rather than about knowing all the symbols and passing a written exam. Also, while there should be a fixed age to learn, there shouldn't be a fixed age to a license. Different people mature at different ages, some can earlier, some later. Which is why the legal driving age can be flexible depending on the person.

Ted Talk!!!

I agree with Peter that there is lots of new technology coming out but he does not talk about that with the new technology coming out there is also a lot more problems that come with these new technologies. With these new technologies there are billions of new people being to access them. Peter also talks about how there is new technology for getting fresh water and how it will be distributed across the world. He also talked about how the price of transportation and food are become cheaper but he left out the fact that with more food and transportation being used because it is getting cheaper there is more CO2 in the air which is affecting the climate, soil nutrient loss and the earth is being more polluted quicker than it ever has before.
